Standard catalogue from the manufacturer of outbuildings still seen throughout the UK; many sheds and garages were built from asbestos sheets. The company still thrives today.

Originally founded to market imported water heaters from Switzerland, the company grew to be a major manufacturer in its own right. The name of the company changed from Sadia to Aidas and then back again, presumably as the brand became more valuable than the company itself.

Staples slightly rusting, light crease in back cover and a few pages, probably from when catalogue may have be folded in half for delivery, a little worn, good thus. Catalogue from the British subsidiary of the American company. So confident where Aladdin of their product that the first page offers £5000 for anyone who could identify a better lamp not of their manufacture. In the United States the company is probably better known for its vacuum food containers and lunchboxes range.

Solar Ware and Solarette were trade marks used for aluminium cookware made in Scotland - suitable for Aga and Ese cookers. The Jackson Cooking Cabinet leaflet is mostly recipes that can be made using the company's electric ovens, including some very ambitious/efficient use of space to make complete meals.

Chicago, American Seating Company 1916 2pp folded leaflet, bw illustrations of desks etc, letter (dated 2 October 1917) to the Portuguese Ministry of Education from the company's export manager, loosely inserted. 32x36 (unfolded), 16x9 (folded). Couple of small holes in both items, generally very good for emphemera. The letter is seeking the renewal of exports when post-war trading conditions return: the company is still thriving, so perhaps the approach was succesful. Hundreds of millions of children, church goers and office workers across the world will have sat at these desks...

Anderson was especially known for flat roofing materials Macasfelt, Thermotile, Durok and Rok. Good technical details and photos including a very good picture of Dreamland at Margate, which is currently undergoing a makeover. Interesting trade publicity item.

The latest addition to the factory, which grew organically from 1895, was designed by Edvard Rottmann.

Patent Water Tube Marine Boilers [cover title].
London & New York, 1899. 117pp including high-quality photo illustrations, diagrams. Boards. 28x22. Covers quite scuffed, contents good. An early publicity item for this firm, with excellent photos of American gunboats, tugs, Nile passenger steamers etc. The Babcock & Wilcox firm was founded in New Jersey in 1867, when it patented its first water tube boiler design. A sales office was opened in Glasgow in 1881 and the main UK works was at Renfrew. The first British-built boiler design by the Company was completed on Clydeside in 1885.

Morganite was a brand name of radiators from Morgan Crucible, and Barker Young seem to have been sole distributors for this and other heating brands. Interesting technical diagrams showing details of some of the products, including thermostats and hygrostats.

1939 Desk Calendar
Belfast, Ropeworks 1938 10 sheets (6 double-sided calendar sheets, 4 adverts and reminders to order products). 12x16, gilt on red imitation leather finish card, sheets inserted in slot and visible through window. Slight rubbing to edges and corners, very good thus. Very attractively presented promotional piece. The gilt pattern outlines the Bluebell that was the trademark of the company's leading product. The company was still the largest ropemaker in the world at this point, but decline had begun to set in and would continue after WWII.
